Elina Ribakova
Elina Ribakova is currently Vice President for Foreign Policy at the Kyiv School of Economics. She is also a nonresident senior fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics and a nonresident fellow at Bruegel.
Her research focuses on global markets, economic statecraft, and economic sovereignty. She has been a senior adjunct fellow at the Center for a New American Security (2020–23) and a research fellow at the London School of Economics (2015–17).
Ribakova has over 25 years of experience with financial markets and research. She has held several senior level roles, including deputy chief economist at the Institute of International Finance in Washington, managing director and head of Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) Research at Deutsche Bank in London, leadership positions at Amundi (Pioneer) Asset Management, and director and chief economist for Russia and the Commonwealth for Independent States (CIS) at Citigroup. Prior to that, Ribakova was an economist at the International Monetary Fund in Washington (1999–2008) working on financial stability, macroeconomic policy design for commodity-exporting countries, and fiscal policy.
Ribakova holds a master of science degree in Economics from the University of Warwick (1999), where she was awarded the Shiv Nath prize for outstanding academic performance, and a master of science degree in data science from the University of Virginia (May 2023).

Tom Coupe
Tom Coupé is Associate Professor at Kyiv School of Economics. He obtained his Ph.D. from the Free University of Brussels (ULB) in 2002. Besides writing academic articles, Coupé regularly writes columns for newspapers and magazines and has done consultancy work for the European Economic Association, Routledge, UNESCO and the World Bank.
Nataliia Shapoval
Nataliia Shapoval is the President of the KSE Institute, and the Vice President for Policy Research at the Kyiv School of Economics (KSE). She served as CEO of KSE from 2019 to 2020, before returning to her leadership role at the KSE Institute.
Since 2014, Shapoval has been a member of the Editorial Board of Ukraine. Nataliia also served as a volunteer Executive for VoxUkraine from its launch in 2014 until its institutionalization in 2018.
Natalia Shapoval brings a decade of expertise in managing and conducting policy research and consulting, specifically in public procurement, the healthcare and pharmaceutical sectors, and economic statecraft. Shapoval has provided advisory services on several governmental strategies encompassing economic and regional development, as well as investment.
Shapoval obtained a Master’s degree in Probability Theory and Statistics (2012) from Taras Shevchenko National University, and a Master’s degree in Economic Analysis (2013) from the Kyiv School of Economics (KSE).

Volodymyr Vakhitov
Volodymyr Vakhitov joined KEI in 2008 and has been Assistant Professor at Kyiv School of Economics since 2003.
Vakhitov has been awarded with various grants and fellowships such as several tuitions for education at the Kentucky University and individual research grants from Global Development Network and Economic Education and Research Consortium.
Olena Nizalova
Olena Nizalova is a Research Fellow in Health Economics at the University of Kent (United Kingdom) and Associate Professor at Kyiv School of Economics. She completed her PhD program in Economics at Michigan State University.
Her recent works include an investigation of the behavior of near elderly with respect to the labor supply and informal care for their elderly parents throughout the world, motherhood wage penalty and inequality in workplace amenities in Ukraine.
